Browns notebook: Cowboys’ Jason Witten exploits defense’s startling vulnerability against tight ends

CLEVELAND: For Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten, the Browns were the fountain of youth.

Witten, 34 and in his 14th NFL season, recorded his first 100-yard game since the 2013 finale as the Cowboys kept the Browns winless with a 35-10 victory Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Targeted 10 times, Witten caught eight passes for 134 yards and a touchdown. Add in the contributions of Geoff Swaim (two catches for 11 yards) and Gavin Escobar (a 2-yard TD when he was wide open) and Cowboys tight ends were targeted 13 times and caught 11 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
