BEREA, Ohio -- Following Sunday's loss to the Titans, I asked Browns offensive lineman Spencer Drango if he ever could have imagined coming into play left tackle.
"All week I get practice at every position during the week so I have to be ready for whatever or when anything happens," he said.
Right. Let me phrase that a little better. Did you ever think you'd have to come in to replace Joe Thomas, he of, at the time, 10,363 consecutive offensive snaps.
"With his streak alive and everything, I didn't," Drango said.
And yet, in a stark reminder of how cruel of a game football really is, there was last year's fifth-round pick out of Baylor trotting out for a second-and-7 play with 5:21 left in the third quarter with Thomas walking off the field towards the medical tent, his season over, although we didn't know it for sure at the time.
