The Browns finally secured an elusive formal interview with Chicago Bears offensive coordinator Adam Gase.
Seeking a new head coach after firing Mike Pettine this past weekend, the Browns confirmed they kicked off their interviews Wednesday by meeting with Gase.
They were reportedly set to meet with Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin later Wednesday.
The Browns tried to interview Gase in 2014 before he removed himself from consideration to focus on a Super Bowl run with the Denver Broncos. They eventually hired Pettine, whose record of 10-22 in two seasons contributed to him and General Manager Ray Farmer being terminated by owner Jimmy Haslam on Sunday.
