Dallas Cowboys secondary coach Jerome Henderson doesn’t have any experience as a head coach or coordinator, but he does have something in common with the man orchestrating the Browns’ coaching search.
Henderson served as the secondary coach of the Browns from 2009-11, and consultant Jed Hughes of the international search firm Korn Ferry held the same title with the team in 1989.
So perhaps Henderson shouldn’t be dismissed as a long shot simply because he’s the only known candidate for the job who hasn’t been a head coach or coordinator.
And with the new regime’s strong commitment to analytics deemed an out-of-the-box approach in the NFL, an out-of-the-box hire shouldn’t be ruled out.
