CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns hosted controversial running back Joe Mixon for a pre-draft visit on Monday, league source confirmed for cleveland.com.
Mixon, from Oklahoma, was not invited to the NFL Combine this year because he punched a woman in the face to the ground and caused multiple facial fractures after she had shoved him. The incident was caught on video.
He was convicted of misdemeanor assault and placed on probation for a year. He also attended counseling, paid $1,200 in fines and performed 100 hours of community service.
But Mixon's visit to Cleveland, reported by CBS Sports, was foreshadowed last week at the NFL Annual Meeting when Dee Haslam, a member of the NFL's Conduct Committee, was asked if the Browns would welcome Mixon onto the team.
