The Cleveland Browns made another addition to the coaching staff on Wednesday with the hiring of Sam Shade as an assistant special teams coach.
The team announced the move on its website.
Shade, a former NFL player, has coached at the college level since 2009 when he took over as the secondary coach at Samford. In addition to coaching defensive backs he was also the Bulldogs special teams coach for two years and the defensive pass game coordinator for the 2014 season.
According to Shade’s bio on the Georgia State website, Samford’s defense was ranked either first or second in the Southern Conference from 2012 through 2015, and led the nation in passing yards allowed in 2014.
