Browns tight end Gary Barnidge was selected the franchise's player of the year by the local chapter of the Pro Football Writers of America, the team announced Wednesday.
Barnidge, the first tight end to win the award since its inception in 2001, leads the team with 71 catches, 977 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. His nine touchdown catches are tied with Hall of Famer Ozzie Newsome for the most by a Browns tight end in a season. Newsome accomplished the feat in 1979.
Meanwhile, Browns quarterback Josh McCown was chosen as the PFWA Dino Lucarelli "Good Guy Award" winner.
