Browns owner Jimmy Haslam wanted Hue Jackson so much he skipped Tuesday's NFL owners meetings in Houston to interview him a second time in Cincinnati.
Haslam's aggressive pursuit paid off because the Browns will manage to hold off other suitors and hire Jackson as their 16th full-time head coach, the eighth since 1999 and the sixth since 2008.
The Browns have yet to announce the hire, but a source familiar with the situation confirmed Wednesday afternoon for the Beacon Journal they're finalizing a contract with Jackson. ESPN and NFL Network first reported the news.
Jackson, the 50-year-old former offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals, told his good friend and NFL Network reporter Michael Silver the Browns "made me feel comfortable.
