Browns executive Bill Kuharich to control player personnel department during GM Ray Farmer’s suspension

Browns General Manager Ray Farmer is on the verge of handing over the reins to one of his mentors.

Bill Kuharich will oversee the Browns’ player personnel department while Farmer serves a suspension for the first four games of the upcoming regular season.

The Browns made the announcement Friday.

The NFL suspended Farmer in March because he sent text messages to Browns coaches during games last season, presumably badgering them with his opinions about play calls and the usage of players. League rules prohibit electronic communication about competitive or strategic information during games. The league also fined the Browns $250,000 but didn’t strip the franchise of a draft pick.
