Browns' Desmond Bryant expected to miss 2016 season after surgery to repair torn pectoral

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Browns starting defensive end Desmond Bryant underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn pectoral muscle and is expected to miss the entire 2016 season, a source confirmed for cleveland.com.

It represents a huge blow for the Browns, who finished 28th in the NFL with 29 sacks last season. Bryant, 30, led the team with six of those sacks and finished second with five in 2015.

Anthony Lima from the team's flagship station 92.3 The Fan and WOIO Channel 19 first reported the news.

Bryant, signed as unrestricted free agent by the Browns in 2013, will be out about five to six months, meaning he's probably done for the year.
