Browns special teams coordinator Chris Tabor wasn’t kidding when he made it known this past weekend that the team’s kicking job is up for grabs.
In a flurry of roster moves executed Monday, the Browns waived veteran kicker Garrett Hartley. Based on Hartley’s resume, which includes three successful field goals en route to the New Orleans Saints’ 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, he appeared to be the favorite to win the job this summer, but the Browns instead chose to move on with the two first-year kickers on their roster, Mayfield High School graduate Carey Spear and Travis Coons.
