The Browns have been working on a new contract with linebacker Jamie Collins, and the two sides are getting close to reaching an agreement, a person familiar with the negotiations confirmed Thursday night.
Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com first reported the Browns and Collins had made significant progress on a contract extension and the deal could be finalized by this weekend.
Collins is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent on March 9, but the Browns have made it clear they desperately want to re-sign him.
