Browns' bust Justin Gilbert suspended 4 games for violating substance abuse policy

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel have more in common than being 2014 Browns' first-round picks who are out of the NFL.

Gilbert, the No. 8 overall pick that year, has followed in the footsteps of Manziel by being suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy -- while out of football.

NFL Network's Courtney Fallon first reported the ban, and the network's Ian Rapoport later reported it was because for a drug violation.

Gilbert, who was traded to the Steelers in September for a 2018 sixth-round draft pick, has been out of football since the Steelers waived him in February with a year left on his rookie contract.
