CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, marking the fifth and final Cleveland Metropolitan School District stadium to receive a new turf field. The school will also receive a new scoreboard for the field.
The other stadiums receiving new fields are Roye Kidd Stadium, James F. Rhodes Stadium and Bump Taylor Stadium, all completed, and the field at John Adams High School, which will also be completed this summer.
The two-year project was made possible by team owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam. The scoreboards were added as a gift from the Browns.
Twenty-one members of the Browns' rookie class were in attendance at Tuesday's ceremony along with members of John Marshall's football team and players from the Cleveland Muny Football League, who will also use the field.
