The Cleveland Browns had their veterans reporting for training camp on Tuesday but the state of WR Amari Cooper was up in the air. Cooper skipped mandatory minicamp as he sought to “get paid” with a new contract.
There was a rumor this weekend that the Browns star receiver was willing to hold out the start of training camp to get the deal that he wanted. Previously, it was reported that Cleveland’s front office and Cooper had some hold up in contract negotiations.
The Browns know they need their top pass-catching option but paying a 30-year-old receiver with a ton of miles on his legs is also very risky.
