In a lot of ways, we are in the same place Thursday morning as we were Monday and Tuesday of this week with the Brandon Aiyuk rumors. All of the reporting seems to agree with what we posted Tuesday, along with intel from Mike Silver from the Bay Area, regarding what we are hearing and seeing.
In some ways, that means we are no closer to finding out where Aiyuk will be playing which leaves the Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers all waiting.
What all the report continues to say:
- Aiyuk seems to want to play for Pittsburgh
- The Steelers are not close to matching what the Niners want in a trade
- The Browns are the best team Aiyuk could join
- The Niners could pull him off the trade market at any time and expect him to play for a Super Bowl-caliber team
- The negotiations are difficult as two teams must agree to a deal but Aiyuk, basically, has a no-trade clause because he can decide not to sign an extension with the new team
Now comes a report out of Pittsburgh that the Steelers are lowballing San Francisco specifically by not offering any current players in their trade package:
The Steelers have no verbal agreement in place with the 49ers for Brandon Aiyuk and are not in process of hammering out final details, per sources.
