Benjamin Gay, former Browns running back, dies in automobile accident

Benjamin Gay did not play long for the Cleveland Browns, and he did not generate huge stats during his tenure, but he did become a fan favorite.

On July 29, 2024, Gay passed away in Colorado due to a vehicle accident as first reported on Nirfino.com. He was 44 years old.

The running back played for the Browns in 2001 where he had 51 attempts for 172 yards and a single touchdown. The head coach was Butch Davis and the franchise finished with a respectable 7-9-0 record for the new Browns and their third year back in the NFL.
