Akron native and Browns legend Bob Gain will be remembered for his altruism, leadership, mischief and dominance as a defensive lineman.
Gain died Monday at age 87. He fell out of bed Thursday morning and had been in the hospital since then, his wife, Kitty, said.
“He was one hell of a man,” Kitty said Tuesday by phone. “He had a big heart and he always did fundraisers for children. That was our main thing that we did, but he started it. He was just a wonderful human being.”
Gain was born in Akron and moved to Weirton, W.
