SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) -- The San Francisco 49ers have selected safety Jaquiski Tartt out of Samford with their second-round pick in the NFL draft.
Tartt was selected at 46th overall Friday night, providing the 49ers further depth in a secondary that lost two more key faces this offseason when cornerbacks Perrish Cox and Chris Culliver signed elsewhere in free agency. Tarell Brown, Carlos Rogers and safety Donte Whitner departed last offseason.
At 6-foot-1, 221 pounds, Tartt has the height, wingspan and physical presence general manager Trent Baalke likes in the backfield.
