This decision was based on the fact that cornerback was one of the Cardinals biggest needs (if not the biggest need), and that Farley was arguably the best player available at the time of the pick.
The Cardinals lost Patrick Peterson in free agency and replaced him with 31 year old Malcolm Butler on a one year deal. Robert Alford was also re-signed to a one year deal after missing the last two seasons due to injuries.
