Paxton Lynch arrived at the University of Memphis as a raw, overlooked quarterback and left as the player most responsible for putting a struggling program back on the map.
He’ll soon enter the NFL with a glaring “project” label attached to his name, but he has the physical traits and intangibles many draft analysts believe could be catalysts for another successful transition.
It’s widely believed Lynch simply needs time to fulfill his potential.
“He’s probably still in the developmental stages of being a quarterback,” Memphis assistant head coach Darrell Dickey, who served as the Tigers’ co-offensive coordinator last season, said in a recent phone interview.
