The coaches at the University of Texas viewed defensive lineman Malcom Brown as the standard to which all of their players should have been held last season.
Defensive coordinator Vance Bedford called Brown “a man among boys,” according to the Houston Chronicle, and coach Charlie Strong called out other members of the team by asking them, “Why can’t you be more like Malcom Brown?”
In other words, Brown embodies everything a coach could want from a player.
“No. 1, he’s a great character guy,” Bedford said in a recent email exchange with the Beacon Journal. “He knows who he is.
