There are conflicting reports surfacing around a party that may or may not have been thrown by Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel on Friday night involving wide receiver Josh Gordon, who was suspended b from the team's season finale by head coach Mike Pettine for missing the team's Saturday morning walk-through.
The injured Manziel was fined for showing up late for treatment that same morning, setting off a firestorm of controversy that he knows could very well have been avoided.
"It's about action," Manziel said, via ESPN.com. "It's about being accountable and doing what I'm gonna say instead of looking like a jackass."
Manziel claims that Josh Gordon was not with him on Friday night, but did see him earlier in the day. Regardless, the man who came in hailed as Johnny Cleveland knows he has work to do to repair his public image.
"It sucks because of the perception I've based around myself -- I've done this to myself -- that that was allowed to be reported and people are just allowed to nod their head and act like that went on," Manziel said.
"Either I'm going to learn or I'm going to be finding something else to do," Manziel added.
