The Cleveland Browns have raved about former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota for the past few months, spurring speculation that they may trade up to draft him.
However, that seems highly unlikely at this point as the Browns have not hosted Mariota for a private workout yet, nor do they have any plans to.
Cleveland does have a wild card in play as their quarterback coach Kevin O'Connell spent several months before the NFL combine working with and preparing Mariota for the pre-draft process.
"We're in the fortunate circumstance that our quarterback coach trained him before he became our quarterback coach,'' said head coach Mike Pettine. "We probably have a little bit better information about him than some others do.''
It's still unclear that's the reason they won't work out Mariota, or if it's because they'll pass on him in the draft, but the coaching staff is fond of what they've seen from Mariota on tape.
