GREENVILLE — The South Carolina Football Hall of Fame named Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson as its Player of the Year Wednesday evening in Greenville, just prior to the Clemson basketball team’s game against Pittsburgh at the Bon Secours Wellness Center.
Wednesday’s honor was just another in a long list of postseason awards for the Clemson quarterback. Watson was named as a consensus All-America quarterback, was third in the Heisman Trophy balloting, was the Most Valuable Player of the Atlantic Coast Conference and was the MVP of the ACC Championship game and the Orange Bowl.
He also was named the winner of the Davey O’Brien and Manning Awards as the nation’s best quarterback as well as the Archie Griffin Award as the nation’s best player.
