On Friday night, three-star outside linebacker James Houston IV called Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables.
The Heritage-Plantation (Fla.) prospect, who’s listed by 247 as the No. 53 outside linebacker in the class of 2017, spoke with TheClemsonInsider on Saturday afternoon, shortly after he announced the news of his offer on Twitter.
“(Venables) said he really wanted to offer me, because he saw my highlight tape and he liked the way I played,” Houston said.
Venables stopped by Heritage High School in the winter to check on Houston (6-1, 225) and several of his teammates.
“We talked a little bit and he said that he would get back to me after signing day,” Houston said.
