Turnovers prove to be costly in Tigers’ loss

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Clemson made a strong second half surge at No. 14 North Carolina Tuesday at the Deon Smith Center, but in the end the Tar Heels made enough plays to hold off the 18th-ranked Tigers’, 87-79.

The win lifted UNC’s record-streak over the Tigers to 59-0, the longest such streak of its kind in any sport.

Clemson (15-3, 4-2 ACC) had an opportunity to win the game with a little more than six minutes to play after making 15 straight shots at one point. However, the Tigers went 3-for-12 down the stretch from the field as North Carolina pulled away late.
