Clemson jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after East Tennessee pitcher Colby Stuart struggled with pitch location.
Sam Hall started the inning with a base hit, advanced to second on a sacrifice fly to center field by Logan Davidson and reached third on a throwing error by the catcher on an attempted pickoff play at first. Stuart eventually walked Kyle Wilkie allowing Hall to reach home plate before the Tigers stranded three runners.
