The Clemson women’s soccer team took on Louisville Thursday at Historic Riggs Field, and after a hard fought match fell 2-1.

Louisville (8-5, 2-3 ACC) struck first in the game. At 14:33, Louisville’s Mollie Rouse took a shot that was saved by Clemson’s Sandy Maclver. Unfortunately for the Tigers, the deflection off the save landed at the feet of the Cardinal’s Allison Whitfield, who buried it in the back of the net.

Clemson (7-4-1, 1-3-1 ACC) responded at 50:48. Shannon Horgan sent in a beautiful cross that found the head of her teammate Mariana Speckmaier. This was Speckmaier’s sixth goal of the season for the Tigers.
