Throwback Thursday: 1981 was 10-8acious

Saturday’s ACC Championship Game in Charlotte will be the first time a Clemson vs. North Carolina football game meant so much in this series since the last time the two played each other with an ACC Championship on the line.

In 1981, a second-ranked Clemson team—still playing for a possible national championship run—defeated the No. 8 Tar Heels in one of the greatest games in ACC history. The final score that day was 10-8.

This year, the Tigers are averaging 37.9 points and 502.5 yards per game. North Carolina is averaging 41.2 points and 495.7 yards a game.
