Dabo Swinney said he was going to let Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher handle the linebacker who made an insensitive gesture to Clemson cornerback Ryan Carter, who suffered a concussion in Saturday’s win over the Seminoles.
FSU linebacker Emmett Rice made a “go to sleep” gesture after hitting Carter during a Florida State punt return in the third quarter, which briefly appeared to knock Carter unconscious for a few seconds. When replay went back and reviewed the play, Rice was caught targeting Carter on a crack-back block as he launched into Carter for a helmet-to-helmet hit.
Rice was tossed from the game for the hit and will have to sit out at least the first half of next week’s game against Delaware State.
