Swinney: Clemson kicker will "miss some time" after summer drug charge

SUNSET, S.C. – Kicker Ammon Lakip remains suspended indefinitely from the Clemson football team, stemming from a drug arrest last month.

Lakip, the Tigers’ leading scorer in 2014, was suspended June 24 after he was pulled over in the wee hours June 6, and charged with possession of cocaine and driving under the influence.

Head coach Dabo Swinney said Wednesday during his annual media golf outing at The Reserve at Lake Keowee that Lakip, a senior, could be reinstated sometime for the 2015 season, if not at the start of it.

“Ammon will hopefully have a chance to return to our team,” Swinney said.
