CLEMSON The top 25 showdown between Dallas Baptist and Clemson turned into a beat down Friday night at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The 25th-ranked Tigers pounded No. 16 DBU 12-1 in front of 5,313 fans in Game 1 of the three-game series. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. as rain is expected to fall on Sunday.
Tigers starter Jacob Hennessy threw 6 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball to earn the win. The sophomore allowed three hits and two walks while striking out eight.
Chris Williams led Clemson at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and four RBIs.
