Joyner impresses in state title game

COLUMBIA – In Saturday’s AAAA D-1 state championship game, Dakereon Joyner threw for 303 yards with three touchdowns and rushed for 63 yards and a score.

He led Fort Dorchester (15-0) to the school’s first ever state title, a 59-31 win over Dorman at Williams-Brice Stadium.

Now, the sophomore quarterback can turn his focus to his favorite quarterback. On Saturday night, he’ll watch the Heisman Trophy ceremony to see if Deshaun Watson picks up some hardware at the Downtown Athletic Club.

“It’s very exciting. I can’t wait to get home and watch,” Joyner said. “Deshaun deserves it.
