CLEMSON, S.C. — The Football Writers Association of America announced today that tackle Mitch Hyatt and Christian Wilkins have been named semifinalists for the 2018 Outland Trophy, presented annually to the nation’s top interior lineman. In addition, Wilkins has been named one of five finalists for the 2018 Bronko Nagurski Trophy, which honors the best defensive player in college football each year.
Wilkins joins Kentucky linebacker Josh Allen, Michigan linebacker Devin Bush, LSU defensive back Grant Delpit and Alabama nose guard Quinnen Williams as Nagurski finalists. Wilkins and Hyatt collectively represent a quarter of the eight Outland semifinalists, a list that also includes Williams, NC State center Garrett Bradbury, Wisconsin guard Michael Deiter, Houston defensive tackle Ed Oliver, Oklahoma guard Ben Powers and Alabama tackle Jonah Williams.
