Former South Carolina commit discusses flip to Clemson

Spartanburg Methodist College sophomore infielder/outfielder Sheldon Reed, who committed to South Carolina in April, has flipped his commitment to Clemson.

The native of Greenwood, S.C., graduated from Emerald High School in 2015 and enrolled at Spartanburg Methodist. Instead of continuing his collegiate career with the Gamecocks, he will be a Tiger.

Clemson head coach Monte Lee reached out to Reed after former South Carolina coach Chad Holbrook resigned earlier this month.

“It was about a week ago (when I flipped), and I flipped because coach Holbrook left and I didn’t feel comfortable not knowing the new coaching staff,” Reed told The Clemson Insider.
