Sure Chris Okey wanted his last memory at Doug Kingsmore Stadium to be in the middle of a dog pile on his way to Omaha with his Clemson teammates. However, walking off the field to a standing ovation following what was perhaps his last at-bat as a Clemson Tiger is a nice alternative.
Okey is expected to be a first-round pick in Thursday’s MLB Amateur Draft, and more than likely will not return to Clemson for his senior year.
“It felt very good. I was appreciative. We have the best fans in the country here, and I can’t thank them enough for the things they’ve done,” the All-American catcher said following the Tigers’ 9-2 loss to Oklahoma State in the Championship Round of the Clemson Regional on Sunday.
