Though he is listed as Clemson’s starting corner on the field side, it does not mean Marcus Edmond has arrived.
“He is one of those guys that really needs to take it to another level this summer,” Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney said recently. “If he will do that, then he will be set up for a heck of a senior year.”
Edmond is coming off a heck of a junior for the Tigers. During Clemson’s run to its first national championship in 35 years, the Hopkins, S.C., native saw an expanded role in the secondary. He played in 13 games and earned three starts, but the two plays fans remember most was his tackle on Louisville wide receiver James Quick to preserve the Tigers’ win over the Cardinals, and his interception in the end zone in overtime to do the same to NC State.
