On Monday, North Charleston-Fort Dorchester four-star quarterback and Clemson target Dakereon Joyner was named the Gatorade South Carolina Player of the Year.
The Clemson Insider caught up with Joyner about the big honor.
“I woke up this morning and I got the email to my phone. I was extremely excited,” Joyner told TCI. “I’m blessed and thankful. I was smiling from ear to ear the entire morning.”
The dual-threat signal-caller threw for 3,642 yards and 44 touchdowns as a junior this season while rushing for 1,089 yards and 12 scores. Joyner accounted for 427 yards and three total touchdowns in Fort Dorchester’s season-ending loss to Dutch Fork in the Class 5A semifinals on Dec.
