Clemson player makes watch list for major award

The Maxwell Football Club today announced its watch list for the 26th annual Chuck Bednarik Award presented annually to the outstanding defensive player in college football.

Clemson’s James Skalski made the watchlist published by the club on Monday morning. The fifth-year joined 90 other elite defensive players who qualified for the award watchlist ahead of the 2020 season.

Skalski finished second on the team with 105 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 15 starts last season.

The Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1995 and is named in honor of Chuck Bednarik a former standout at the University of Pennsylvania and with the Philadelphia Eagles.
