North Carolina went ahead by a field goal early on, but Clemson answered back with a 16-yard touchdown pass from Deshaun Watson to Wayne Gallman.
The Tar Heels answered back with a 46-yard pass from Marquise Williams to T.J. Logan on a botched pass coverage call to take a 9-7 lead after missing the two-point conversion.
Clemson took the lead back with 10:35 left in the second quarter with a Deshaun Watson nine-yard run into the end zone.
