There have been two recent Clemson football quarterbacks to have extended success against in-state rival South Carolina.
Those two are Charlie Whitehurst and Deshaun Watson.
Both of those guys are considered two of the top quarterbacks in Clemson football history. Watson is the best and Whitehurst is certainly in the top-five, possibly the top-three.
Whitehurst has been known for years now as the guy who never lost to South Carolina, going 4-0 against the Gamecocks. Watson went 3-0 against South Carolina. One of his most notable victories came in his freshman year when he beat the Gamecocks with a torn ACL and ended the long streak that South Carolina had against Clemson.
