Clemson downs Upstate

GREENVILLE – Avry Holmes set a Clemson career-high with 20 points as the Tigers cruised to a 76-56 win over USC-Upstate on Wednesday night.

The win improved Clemson to 5-2 as Upstate dropped to 1-8.

Clemson used a stretch of hot 3-point shooting to build a 23-14 first half lead. The Tigers connected from deep on four-consecutive trips, the final three were knocked down by Ty Hudson, who scored a career-high 11 points on 4 of 8 shooting.

The long-range shots continued to fall as Clemson led 39-22 at the half.

Most of the early points came from inside the paint.
