Clemson coaches want Lawrence to keep it simple

Tough Trevor Lawrence is just a sophomore, he has already mastered Clemson’s offense. And though that sounds like a good thing for the defending national champions, it can also be a hindrance.

Because Lawrence knows the offense so well, he attempted to do too much during the first few weeks of spring practice, which quarterbacks coach Brandon Streeter, along with co-offensive coordinator Tony Elliott, wasn’t happy about.

“I had this before where guys that have mastered the offense and have learned the offense and really understand it, try to do too much,” Streeter said. “He tried to do too much that first part of the spring.
