CLEMSON – Greg Huegel walked on to Clemson’s football team last August and not only wound up earning a starting spot, he picked up a few All-American honors along the way. But don’t expect Huegel to revel in his success. He used the offseason to shore up the weak parts of his game, and he thinks yoga has helped make the biggest difference.
Huegel earned second-team All-American by Sports Illustrated last season, and he became the first walk-on to earn All-America honors in Clemson history while still a walk-on. Huegel was a first-team freshman All-American by USA Today, second-team All-ACC (media), third-team All-ACC (coaches) and converted a national-best 27 field goals (in 32 attempts), an 84-percent success rate.
