Five-star wide receiver Jashawn Sheffield was excited when four-star defensive back Jaylin Simpson, his teammate at Frederica Academy in Saint Simons Island, Ga., received a long-awaited offer from Clemson last week.
“It’s cool,” Sheffield told The Clemson Insider. “I was always wondering when it would happen. I’m happy for him. He deserves it. He’s balling right now.”
Sheffield and Simpson — a pair of prospects in the class of 2019 who combine for around three dozen scholarship offers — have built a close relationship with one another over the years.
“Best friends. He’s like my brother,” Sheffield said of Simpson.
