From the first time Devin Booker put on a Clemson uniform there were lofty expectations put on him. Booker has dealt with those expectations and gotten better each year. This year he has stepped up and been the unquestioned leader of the team while making a case for 1st Team All-ACC Honors.
In his Senior season, Clemson has faced some tough moments but Booker has been a bright spot. He leads the team in scoring, rebounds, and field goal percentage. His numbers are good enough to put him 18th in scoring, 8th in rebounds, and 3rd in field goal percentage among the ACC leaders. He put up good numbers in non-conference play but when conference play began Booker stepped up his game.
Booker has went crazy in the Tigers 1st 6 conference games. He is 5th in scoring(16.7 points per game) and 5th in rebounds(8.8 points per game) in ACC play. He leads the league in field goal percentage in conference play as well. In those 6 games he has 2 double-doubles and has just missed out on a double-double twice. He put up a career high of 27 points against NC State and was dominate on the boards against Duke. In ACC play he has been the player on the floor consistently. Against the tougher teams he has elevated his game like All-ACC 1st Team players should do.
Booker has to continue his hot streak for the rest of the season. If he continues to be dominate and lead Clemson to some big wins he deserves All-ACC 1st team honors. He should be a lock to make at least the 3rd team regardless. But will the tobacco road lovers see what's going on outside of the state of North Carolina? If they do, they will recognize that he is very deserving.
