Auburn Football News: Gene Chizik Joins SEC Network As Analyst

In this Auburn football news and rumors update, former Auburn Tigers head coach Gene Chizik has found himself a new line of employment as an analyst for the SEC Network.

According to Alex Byington of Auburn University Sports, "Chizik will initially serve in a limited role as a studio analyst on Mondays and Tuesdays, mostly contributing to the network's news show "SEC Now." His first appearance on the network will be Sunday, Aug. 31 as an in-studio analyst for the Utah State at Tennessee game."

Chizik helped lead the Auburn Tigers to the 2010-2011 BCS National Championship before being fired two seasons later.

"I'm thrilled to be a part of the launch of the SEC Network," Chizik stated in a release by the network. "I've been in college football for more than 25 years and look forward to offering my insight. I hope to give the viewers some inside perspective on game week preparation as well as shed some light on the different strategies that take place on game day. It's exciting to be able to share some of that on such a tremendous platform."

USA Today was the first to report Chizik's hiring. Chizik was dismissed from Auburn's football program after a 3-9 campaign in 2012. He had remained in Auburn ever since.
