Head coach Dabo Swinney has turned the Clemson Tigers into a recruiting machine, and even though they're in the middle of spring practice, they're still very active in recruiting some of the top prospects in the 2017 class. Here are the top seven recruits Clemson is targeting:
7) LB Anthony Hines
Clemson is trying to take the No. 2 inside linebacker in the country out of the state of Texas, but that will be tough to do. The Tigers are vying with Oklahoma, Baylor and Texas to land the athletic 6'3", 222-pounder's services.
6) OT Trey Smith
Smith massive at 6'5" and 302 lbs, and is still surprisingly athletic, which is why he's the No. 10 offensive tackle in the country. He is very high on Tennessee, but he also has a very high interest in Clemson, Alabama and Auburn.
5) CB Jamyest Williams
Clemson is the favorite to land this Georgia native, which would be an absolute steal for the Tigers. He doesn't have great size at 5'9" and 170 lbs, but Williams is a freakish athlete capable of making plays all over the field.
4) WR James Robinson
The No. 7 receiver in the country is heavily favoring Clemson right now, and no one else is really close. At 6'3" and 196 lbs, Robinson uses his size and excellent hands to be a reliable deep threat.
3) QB Hunter Johnson
Johnson committed to Clemson in December, and he is expected to take over this offense whenever Deshaun Watson leaves. The No. 2 pro-style quarterback has a rocket arm with reliable accuracy, as you can see below:
2) WR Tee Higgins
Higgis is one of the most sought-after wideouts in the country for good reason. Not only does he have gamebreaking speed, Higgins is a massive target at 6'5" with great hands, giving him all the tools you could possibly want. Clemson is the favorite to land him, but they're trying to fight off a push from Tennessee.
1) CB Darnay Holmes
Clemson is going hard after the top cornerback in the country, but they still have plenty of ground to make up. Stanford and UCLA lead for the Calabasas, CA native, but Clemson is in the next group with Alabama, Arizona and Nebraska.
