CLEVELAND - Heading into the 2021 season, Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto was one of the only position players on the team who had spent most of his professional career at one position.
With Votto on the injured list after fracturing his left thumb, the Reds have multiple players they could start at most of their infield and outfield positions.
“There’s a high likelihood that when (Votto) comes back, we would go back to the way it was,” manager David Bell said. “It just opens up the possibility that we can put our best team on the field each night.
